In addition to regular guided tours, the Educational Department of the Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Site offers special visits and excursions dedicated to certain topics (e.g. women in the Dachau Concentration Camp) between May and November. Lecture "Erinnerungsort Flossenbürg"
The memorial site invites interested participants to a lecture of Dr. Jörg Skriebeleit, head of the Memorial Site Flossenbürg, taking place in the visitors’ center (Pater-Roth-Str. 2a) on Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at 7:00 pm. Dr. Jörg Skriebeleit is going to present his doctoral thesis “Erinnerungsort Flossenbürg. Akteure, Zäsuren, Geschichtsbilder” [Place of Remembrance Flossenbürg]. The lecture is in German. No booking required, entry is free.

66th Anniversary of the Liberation of the Dachau Concentration Camp
On Sunday, May 1st, 2011, a remembrance service will be held in order to commemorate the 66th anniversary of the liberation of the Dachau Concentration Camp. This event will take place at the invitation of the president of the Comité International de Dachau (CID) and with the support of the Bavarian Memorial Foundation.
The day will begin with religious services of remembrance. At 9.30am a universal service will take place in the Carmelite Convent of the Holy Blood, whilst at the same time a Russian Orthodox service will take place in the Resurrection Chapel. At 10am the Union of Israeli Cultural Associations in Bavaria invites visitors to a memorial service at the Jewish Memorial.
The main service of remembrance organized by the Comité International de Dachau (CID), the International Committee of Dachau survivors and their relatives will begin at 10.45am. The service will include:
- Words of remembrance at the former crematorium
- Procession through to the former roll call area
- Words of thanks and the laying of wreaths at the International Memorial
At approximately 12.30pm an hour of remembrance will follow at the former "SS Shooting Range Hebertshausen".
In relation to the liberation commemorations the “Supporters of International Youth-encounters and memorial work” invites visitors to join them for the reunion of former prisoners, their relatives and individuals who attended the memorial service. The event will take place in the Jugendgästehaus (International Youth Guest House) at Roßwachtstr.15, Dachau.
Other dates
Friday 29th April 2011 at 6pm: Laying of memorial wreaths at the Leitenberg and at the Woodland Cemetery, Dachau-Etzenhausen
Saturday, 30th April 2011 at 6pm: Memorial service in remembrance of the death marches organized by the supporters of the Death March Memorial Dachau. The ceremony takes place at the bronze statue by Hubertus von Pilgrim, at the corner of Theodor-Heuss-Strasse and Sudetenlandstrasse. Amongst others, survivor of the death marches Abba Naor, will speak.
All events are open to the public.

Site, presents her study Dachauer
Gedenkorte zwischen Vergessen und Erinnern – Die Massengräber am Leitenberg und
der ehemalige SS-Schießplatz bei Hebertshausen nach 1945. The presentation takes place in cooperation with
the Protestant Church of Reconciliation, where it shall also begin at 7:30 p.m.

Italian
survivors of different Nazi concentration camps. The Italian historian Marco
Coslovich conducted nearly one hundred interviews in the last several decades and
dedicated this impressive collection, the "Fondo Marco Coslovich," to
his eponymous grandfather, who was imprisoned in the Dachau concentration camp
and died there in March 1945.
On Wednesday, 18 May 2011 the Memorial Site invites interested
participants to a discussion with
Hana Klein from

taking place in the visitor`s center
(Pater-Roth-Str. 2a) at 7 pm. The conversation with Hana Klein is one of the events accompanying the exhibition “They gave us hope again - pregnancy
and birth in the concentration camp
Kaufering I”, which has been extended until
end of August 2011.
