Is the Memorial Site appropriate for children?
There is no special exhibition for children at the Dachau Memorial Site, and some of the content may not be appropriate for children under 12; however, visitors will not be turned away based on age.
How long does it take to get to Dachau from Munich?
We recommend that you allow approximately one hour to travel to the Memorial Site. For additional information on travel, please see Transportation and Parking".
How much does it cost to visit the Memorial Site?
Visits to the Memorial are free of charge. A small fee is charged for audio guides and guided tours. For more information on tours, please see "Tours and Seminars"
Please note that there is a charge to park in the parking lot (Cars and Motorcycles: 3.-€, Busses and RV's 5.-€).
How much time should I allow for a visit?
Most visitors need a half day to view the grounds and the exhibitions. If your time is limited we suggest that you focus on areas of the Memorial Site that are of specific interest to you. An overview of the grounds and the exhibits can be found at the links "Virtual Tour" and "Exhibits".
Is the Memorial Site accessible for people with disabilities?
The Memorial Site is accessible to people with disabilities and is equipped with accessible restrooms. Wheelchairs can be borrowed from the museum staff. Please note however that much of the grounds are unpaved and access for wheelchairs may be difficult. There are also some buildings that do not have a wheelchair entrance.
Are dogs allowed on the grounds?
Dogs must be leashed at all times, and are not allowed in the buildings and the Crematorium area!
Is there a facility for storing luggage?
No, unfortunately there is no possibility to store any luggage and there are no lockers.
