The book by Eva Gruberov\u00e1 and Helmut Zeller
\ntells the unbelievable but true stories of Eva Fleischmannov\u00e1 and Miriam
\nRosenthal, two of these seven mothers. It traces their journeys through life \u2013
\nfrom their youth in Hungary, full of hope planning for the future, their
\nodyssey through various concentration camps and the birth of their children,
\nthrough to their lives after the war.<\/p>\n

\nand one of the most authentic documents from the era of National Socialism:
\nRudolf Kalmar, journalist, was deported to Dachau on the first transport sent
\nfrom Vienna; here he was exposed until the end of the war to the tyranny of the
\nNazi terror machine. He survived and in 1946 wrote this haunting and poignant
\nbook about everyday life in the concentration camp, which upon publication
\nattracted international attention. Edited, annotated and its reception history
\noutlined, it is now once again readily available to the reading public.<\/p>\n

More than a quarter of a century after the first comprehensive study on
\n\u201cNational Socialist mass murder by poison gas\u201d, presented by the concentration
\ncamp survivors Eugen Kogon and Hermann Langbein in cooperation with others in
\n1983, this work details the current state of research. Internationally renowned
\nscholars explore the historical background as well as the scientific and
\ntechnological prerequisites for mass murder using poison gas and the specifics
\nof this use in the German Reich and the occupied areas. Essays focusing on
\nspecific countries address the positions of internationally active Holocaust
\ndeniers and formulate counterstrategies.<\/p>\n

\nJosef Martin: Im Schatten des Hochschwab: Skizzen aus dem steirischen
\nWiderstand, ed. with an introduction by Heimo Halbreiner and Karl Wimmler.
\nGraz: Clio 2010.<\/strong>On April 26, 1948, the Styrian Josef Martin Presterl was sentenced to
\ndeath in the so-called Dachau Trail held in Ljubljana \u2013 a Titoist show trail \u2013
\nand executed. Studying to become a teacher in the 1930s in Graz, he was
\nexpelled from the teacher training college in 1935 for political activities.
\nBecoming a writer, Presterl was both a political and literary mentor for
\nRichard Zach. At the end of 1936 Presterl went to Spain to fight for the
\nRepublic against Franco; after the defeat of Republican Spain he was sent to a
\nFrench camp and from there finally to Dachau concentration camp.<\/p>\n

Following liberation in 1945 Presterl returned to Graz, becoming
\ninvolved in cultural politics, journalism and eventually also acting as a
\npublisher. His imprisonment in Yugoslavia in the fall of 1947 meant that the
\nwork Im Schatten des Hochschwab<\/em>,
\nalthough ready for printing, could not be brought out. In this work Presterl
\nhad sought to depict the history of Styrian resistance from 1938 to 1945 for
\nthe first time, drawing on accounts given by former resistance fighters and
