Digital Memorial Book
The Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial commemorates the victims of the Dachau concentration camp and its satellite camps.
Between 1933 and 1945, approximately 41,500 people were murdered in Dachau concentration camp, its satellite camps, and during the so-called death marches. Thousands died without documentary traces of their identity being preserved, which is why their names remain unknown to this day.
Furthermore, thousands of additional prisoners from Dachau concentration camp died in other camps or during transports between them. They are also not recorded in this memorial book. The digital memorial book documents the deceased up to the final evacuation of the liberated camp on July 31, 1945, approximately three months after liberation on April 29, 1945.
The memorial book is based on written documents from the Nazi period and the immediate postwar period.
