Anlässlich des 80. Jahrestages der Befreiung des KZ Dachau wurde am 29. April 2025 im Durchgang des ehemaligen Jourhauses eine Gedenktafel zu Ehren der 45. Division der 7. US-Armee enthüllt.

Bei der Einweihung waren auch Angehörige von Befreiern der Division, Dr. James Miller, Generalkonsul des US-Generalkonsulats München und der Dachau-Überlebende Abba Naor anwesend.

Grußworte sprachen anderem Karl Freller (Direktor der Stiftung Bayerische Gedenkstätten), Dominique Boueilh (Präsident des Comité International de Dachau) und Generalkonsul Dr. James Miller. Mit weiteren Redebeiträgen folgten Brigadier General Stephen P. Carpenter (7th Army Training Command) sowie Major General Thomas H. Mancino (The Adjutant General of Oklahoma). Musikalisch begleitet wurde die Einweihung von dem U.S. Army Europe and Africa Band & Chorus.

Bei der anschließenden Szenischen Lesung „But it was true – we were free“ im Kinosaal der KZ-Gedenkstätte haben Schüler/-innen der Bavarian International School bewegende Erinnerungen von Befreiern und Überlebenden des KZ Dachau in der Originalsprache vorgetragen.
