Education and Memory in Times of a Global Crises IV

The impact of Covid-19 has been felt in cultural institutions all over the world. Many museums and memorial sites had been closed for weeks and months – sometimes for the first time in their history. The temporary closures brought with them the need for alternative educational approaches. Often an accelerated or even completely new approach on digital or virtual resources has been the answer. With the decline in new infections and the relaxation of coronal measures, there has been a drastic shift from closure to supposedly normal operation of memorials and museums.

In this edition of our workshop series “Education and Memory in Times of a Global Crisis” we will take a first look at this transitional period together. How did different institutions manage to bridge the time between a lockdown and the opening? Which approaches and (digital) methods do they permanently incorporate into their teaching offer (educational program)? And, which current projects are the institutions addressing?
